about the artist

Photo of AlI Studied Textile Art at Winchester School of Art, graduating in June 2002. I have since shown work in group exhibitions in Stroud, Winchester and London; at The Atrium Gallery of PricewaterhouseCoopers and The Truman Brewery on Brick Lane. In addition I have held five solo shows; one in Oxford, and four in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

My work is primarily concerned with the play of light and shadow and how it reflects onto a space. I choose spaces that seem (initially) to hold no obvious interest, a space that is out of everyday sight: over-looked, tucked away. This is important to me because I enjoy the challenge of bringing a mundane area forward and giving it a new life.

I work mainly with photography and textile, and I play with scale to enhance the space and bring it forward.

Since the nature of the space is what I'm interested in, I am very keen on producing work to commission, based on specific places.

As well as galleries, I have exhibited in bars, cinemas, pubs, offices, schools and private homes. I am always looking for new ways to bring my pieces to a wider audience. Please contact me if you would like to discuss a commission or an exhibition.
